Conditions for selection of pneumatic source

  • ➤ Selection of air compressor
    • The air compressor compresses the air into pressurized gas ( air ) and the mode and the size of air compressor used in pneumatic system is depended primarily on the air consumption and working pressure of the system. In additions, the economic factor is also the point of consideration. The condition with less air consumption application, the reciprocal air compressor is less expansive.
    • Output of the air compressor
      Refer to the volume of compressed air output by the air compressor ; there are two different methods to rule the output.
      (1) Theoretical output
      (2) Valid output
      Theoretical output equals to the product displacement volume and revolving number.
      The valid output is differ according to type of air compressor. Generally, the user uses the valid output because valid output is directly used in transmission and control pneumatic equipment. The output is in Nm3/min or Nm3/h unit.
    • Pressure
      Generally divided into working pressure and operating pressure and the working pressure is the pressure in all the pipeline of the user equipment after outlet of the air compressor.
      The operating pressure is the pressure required in working. General operating pressure is 6 kg/cm2 and all pneumatic components may be designed based on the pressure.
  • ➤ Piping conditions of pneumatic source pipeline
    • While conducting whole plant air pipeline design , it can be divided into centralized air supply piping and individual air supply piping. The piping of the individual air supply pipeline may be connected to each other , in order to prevent failure of certain air compressor, the supply can be picked up by other air compressor. Possess the advantages of smaller piping is allowed in each individual air supply system and less pressure loss. However, it is troublesome in installation if the individual air supply system require large horsepower air compressor and difficult to service.
    • The main pipeline of the air compressor adopts ring and interconnection piping if possible.The pipeline should have a gradient of 1/2 or 1 ~ 2% toward end of the pipeline in order to facilitatedrainage and provide with strainer at the end. The pneumatic equipment is mainly connected to main pipeline ; the compressed air must be connected from main line when using in order to prevent condensate water from flow into pneumatic equipment.
    • The selection of pipe diameter should be as follows :
      (1) Flow
      (2) Length of the line
      (3) Pressure consumption
      (4) Pressure used
      (5) The bore of switch. Bend, tee piping passing the line
    • The major requirement of the pipeline is easy installation, corrosion resistance and material. In thepipeline for long duration usage , the installation is preferable using welding or soldering in connection.It is a simplest connection of the pneumatic system to quip with quick connector.
